Importance of Sunscreen Protection

Now that summer is at its peak its more important than ever to use sunscreen, especially when enjoying the beach.
Be sure to pick up sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 at your local pharmacy. You should apply sunscreen to all exposed skin and reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours or as instructed on the sunscreen bottle. Remember that it is important to wear sunscreen even when you’re not on the beach especially for individuals with sensitive skin.
UV radiation can cause significant harm to your skin besides the usual sunburn. Some damage can’t be seen with the naked eye but may lead to premature aging of the skin. If you notice any new and asymmetrical birthmarks make sure to see your doctor immediately as this may be a sign of melanoma.
Sunburns usually last for about 24 hours but pick up aloe lotion and moisturizer at you local pharmacy for pain relief. If you experience swelling, itching or you develop a rash along with the sunburn be sure to call your doctor.
Most importantly remember to enjoy your summer and stay safe and healthy with proper skin care.
